One Billion Women and few good Men

This week we all celebrate the International Woman’s Day and this is a splendid opportunity to write about a very recent impressive event – One Billion Woman Rising – The Biggest Mass Global Action To End Violence Against Women & Girls In The History Of Humankind. This event was conceived by Eve Ensler who wrote the hugely successful and influential Vagina Monologues. Here in our neighborhood the event was celebrated in a sports hall of a local college. It started by a short gathering and one of the organizers told about an abuse she suffered as a child many years ago. This was extremely poignant as she never told about it before, not even to her mother who was in the audience and was moved to tears. After the gathering everybody danced for several hours. Later the participants gathered in small sharing circles .

I would like to thank all the courageous women who organized and participated in this event and who danced so beautifully and who invited me to take part and document this memorable event.
